Mystery Saturday

We spent Saturday finding a few mystery boxes, so we can't say too much about our day. Except... we finally finished the Around the World in 80 Days series! Hurray! We loved this series and highly recommend it to all. :-) Also, it was our first experience 'boxing in a downpour. We were surprised to find that we weren't soaked by the end of the day; the park had enough trees that we ended up just a little damp. Thank goodness!

Our big adventure of the day actually had nothing to do with letterboxing. When we came back to the parking lot after many hours of hiking, J spotted a furry white puffball in the crook of a tree. It was a tiny little kitten, much too small to be out on its own, wet and shivering. It started purring as soon as J picked him up (B couldn't because he is horribly allergic to cats). We asked at a house across the street, but it wasn't theirs or their neighbors. We think somebody just dumped him in the parking lot. After a long process involving calling vets, 911 by mistake, and a drive into town (which the poor little kitten did NOT like) we ended up at the Humane Society, where we left him. We hope he will find his way into a new home very soon.

Spring Fling ‘06

One word for it: awesome. We couldn’t have had better weather, and Tom and Jill did a superb job organizing everything. My only complaints for the day were that 1) we brought cookies for lunch, like nearly everybody else (Note to selves: be more original!) and 2) B’s allergies were really acting up. As the day progressed, he became a non-stop sneezing machine. At one point, he sneezed for so long and so loudly that a biker on another trail shouted “Bless you” as she zoomed by! So, we didn’t get to box as much as J would have liked (we finished the May Day series and SpringChick’s, but had to pass on TrailTroll’s)… but it was still loads of fun.

And it goes without saying that it was a real treat to meet new letterboxers and do exchanges. Of the attendants, we only knew SpringChick, TrailTroll, Azobox, and TJ_Mich beforehand… but by the end we had met (and received the lovely stamps of) J-Walkers, TeamRabbit, the IrishClovers, Silver Thorn, the Michigan Patriot, Sunfleur, PennyPenny, and Spartanfans. It is so nice to put a face with a trail name/box!. Plus, a few PT’s were exchanged, too!

J did take a few pics of the day, but Blogger is being really, really, really annoying and not letting her upload them. So, look for them in the Photo section og LbGLK.
